HYPE Counseling Services is committed to providing access to medically necessary behavioral health and substance use treatment services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

No patient will be denied access to medically necessary services due to inability to pay.

A discounted/sliding fee schedule is available for eligible uninsured and self-pay patients and is based upon household income and family size in accordance with current Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Question 1: What types of counseling services do you offer?

We provide Mental Health Skill Building, Intensive In-Home, Community Stabilization and Substance Abuse Services.

Question 2: Do you offer family or couples counseling?

We partner with Central Virginia Preferred Providers which provides an array of psychiatric and therapeutic services.

Question 3: What type of payment do you accept?

We currently accept all Medicaid MCOs.

Question 4: How long is a typical counseling session?

Sessions can last anywhere from 30 mins, to 5 hours, depending the tyhpe of service you qualify for. The service(s) you qualify for depends on you your needs you have. This is determined by a screening and assessment performed by our team when you come to us for help. The number of sessions depends on your unique needs and goals, which we'll discuss together in your initial session.

Question 5: Do you offer virtual or online counseling?

Yes, depeding on the service, we offer both in-person and secure virtual sessions to accommodate your preferences and ensure accessibility.

Question 6: How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call our office, fill out our online request form, or email us to set up your first appointment.

Question 7: How much does counseling cost, and do you accept insurance?

We accept several medicaid insurance plans. For individuals who are uninsured and fall a certain poercentage belolw the poverty line, may apply for our sliding scale options. To see if you qualify, you must apply and be approved first.

Question 8: What if I don't feel comfortable with my counselor or worker?

Finding the right fit is important. If you feel your counselor or worker isn't a good match, we can help connect you with another professional.

Question 9: Can I bring a friend or family member to my session?

Generally, individual sessions are one-on-one, but you can discuss with your counselor if having a support person present for part of the session might be helpful. if you aer eeciving group therapy, only individuals who are recieving treatment from us, and have been invited to that particular group may come, due to confidentiality purposes.

Question 10: What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to cancel any appointments. Emergencies are, of course, an exception.

Question 11: Do you provide crisis counseling?

While we can help with urgent emotional needs, we are not a crisis hotline. If you are in immediate danger or feeling suicidal, please call 988 (U.S.) or go to the nearest emergency room.

Question 12: Is there a difference between counseling and therapy?

The terms are often used interchangeably. B Both involve working with a trained professional to address emotional, mental, behavioral and substance use challenges. Please note: Not all services we offer contain the therapy component.

Question 13: what happnes If I miss repetitive scheduled appointments?

Repeated missed sessions without notice may result in termination of services to allow scheduling for other clients.

Question 14: What qualifications do your counselors and workers have?

Our counselors and workes have varyhing credentials from Certified Peer Recovery Certications, Qualified Mental Health Professionals, Certfified Substance Abuse Counselors, to Licensed Mental Health Professionals with advanced degrees in counseling, psychology, or social work. ALl staff also complete ongoing training to stay updated on best practices.

Question 15: Do you work with children and teens?

Yes, we offer a service called intensive in home that structured for children and adolescents, using approaches tailored to their age, needs, and developmental stage.
